HOW TO APPLY TO ISB’S PGP

To apply to ISB’s PGP (Post Graduate Programme), you need to complete the application form, which consists of several sections. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to apply:

Personal Details: Fill in your personal information accurately, including your name, contact details, and relevant background information.

Academics: Additionally, provide details of your educational background, including Class X, XII, graduation, and post-graduation if applicable. Mention any additional certifications or courses you have completed. Be sure to include relevant information such as your university name, degree, and academic achievements.

Work Experience: Highlight your work experience, including job responsibilities, initiatives you have taken, and notable achievements. Emphasise the relevance of your roles to the MBA program and demonstrate the impact you have made in your professional career.

Awards & Activities: List any awards, honours, or significant achievements you have received, both in your professional and personal life. Additionally, mention your hobbies and extracurricular activities that showcase your interests and passions. Ensure that your hobbies are relevant and genuinely pursued, as they may be discussed during the interview process.

GMAT/GRE Test Score: Provide a valid GMAT or GRE score, as ISB requires these test scores for admission. Take the test before submitting your application and ensure that your scores will be valid as of the deadline date for the round in which you apply. If necessary, ISB may grant an extension for score submission, typically observed in Round 1 in previous years. Aim for a competitive GMAT score that aligns with ISB’s admission requirements- the range of GMAT in the current class is 600 to 780 and the range of GRE is 311 to 335, with the average GMAT being 711 and GRE is 327.

Application Essays: Pay careful attention to the application essays as they are a crucial component of your application. Use these essays to articulate your career goals, explain why you are pursuing an MBA, and demonstrate how the PGP at ISB will help you achieve those goals. Highlight the unique value you can bring to the ISB community. Expect questions related to your essays during the interview process, as they are thoroughly evaluated.

You can check out this year’s essay topics and our analysis of the same here.

Recommendation or Evaluation: Provide details of a recommender or evaluator who can provide an authentic assessment of your abilities and character. This could be your reporting manager, previous manager, senior colleague, client, business partner, supplier, professor, or anyone who has worked closely with you. Focus on the quality of the recommendation rather than solely considering the seniority of the recommender’s designation. Having both quality and seniority can strengthen your application.

Finally, ensure that you complete all sections of the application form accurately and thoughtfully. Take the time to review your application before submission, ensuring it represents your qualifications, achievements, and aspirations effectively.

 ISB PGP SELECTION CRITERIA

Each candidate applying to the PGP (Post Graduate Programme) at ISB is holistically evaluated based on the following parameters:

– Academic Excellence: The candidate’s academic performance is assessed, including their grades, the reputation of the institution they attended, and any additional certifications or courses they have completed. Admissions committees look for a strong academic foundation to ensure the candidate can handle the rigor of the program.

– Work Experience: Additionally, the candidate’s professional background and work experience are carefully evaluated. The duration and quality of work experience, as well as the impact made in previous roles, are considered. Admissions committees assess the candidate’s ability to contribute to classroom discussions and bring practical insights to the program.

– Leadership Potential: Moreover, ISB seeks candidates who have demonstrated leadership potential or qualities. This could be through formal leadership roles, such as team lead or manager, or through informal leadership experiences. The candidate’s ability to inspire and motivate others, make effective decisions, and drive positive change is considered.

– Diversity and Inclusion: In addition, ISB values diversity in its student body, and candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Admissions committees assess the candidate’s unique experiences, perspectives, and cultural diversity. This helps create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

– Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are important for success in the program and beyond. Admissions committees evaluate the candidate’s ability to articulate their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations clearly. Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork and collaboration, are also assessed.

– Personal Achievements and Extracurricular Activities: The candidate’s personal achievements, awards, and participation in extracurricular activities are considered. These showcase the candidate’s well-roundedness, interests, and passions outside of academics and work. Admissions committees seek candidates who have demonstrated commitment, initiative, and excellence beyond their professional lives.

– Goals and Motivation: The candidate’s career goals and motivation for pursuing an MBA are thoroughly evaluated. Admissions committees seek candidates who have a clear sense of purpose, well-defined career goals, and a strong rationale for why they believe the PGP at ISB is the right fit for their aspirations.

– Fit with ISB’s Values and Culture: ISB has a unique culture and set of values, including a focus on teamwork, collaboration, and making a positive impact. Admissions committees assess whether the candidate’s values align with those of the institution. They look for individuals who will thrive in ISB’s collaborative and supportive environment.

Overall, it’s important to note that these parameters are considered collectively, and no single parameter is the deal maker / breaker. ISB strives to build a diverse and talented cohort, and each candidate is evaluated based on their individual strengths, potential, and fit with the program.

WHICH ROUND TO APPLY TO ISB?

When it comes to applying to the Indian School of Business (ISB), prospective applicants often wonder which round offers the best chances of admission and scholarship opportunities. While ISB explicitly states that there is no significant difference in the chances of selection between rounds, there are certain factors that make Round 1 particularly advantageous. This subsection explores the considerations for choosing the right round to apply to ISB, with a focus on maximising scholarship opportunities and receiving timely results.

Scholarship Opportunities:

Again, one factor to consider when deciding which round to apply to ISB is the availability of scholarships. Full tuition fee waivers, which can significantly alleviate the financial burden of the program, are exclusively offered to Round 1 applicants. Additionally, 50% of all merit and need-based waivers are allocated to Round 1 candidates. Therefore, if securing a scholarship is a priority for you, applying in Round 1 increases your chances of obtaining substantial financial assistance.

Timely Results:

Another advantage of applying in Round 1 is the promptness of result announcements. Compared to applicants from later rounds, Round 1 candidates receive their admission decisions much sooner. This can provide a clear advantage in terms of planning and making informed decisions regarding other potential academic or professional opportunities. By applying in Round 1, you gain an early understanding of your admission status, allowing you to adjust your future plans accordingly.
